At Ergeon, we've installed 18,000 fences in the past five years, with every style imaginable. Here are our top favorites to inspire your own outdoor project.
Chain link fencing is made from woven strips of steel wire that form the signature diamond pattern. The wires run vertically but bend into a zigzag shape, creating the distinctive mesh design. Posts are set at evenly spaced intervals, and sometimes a top horizontal rail is added to minimize movement in the mesh.
People choose chain link fences for many reasons, and they are found in a variety of applications, from residential to commercial. Their practicality and ease of installation make them a go-to choice for property owners. Plus, they’re cost-effective and low-maintenance compared to other fencing options, making them a great value. Unlike wooden or vinyl fences, chain link fences won’t rot or fade, ensuring long-lasting durability.
A black vinyl covered chain link fence is a good option if you like the ease of installation of a chain link fence - and the cost effectiveness - but want it to look a little different than the traditional chain link fence. We installed this fence with black vinyl covering the wire mesh as well as the posts and rails so that the entire fence looks black instead of silver metallic.
When you choose a black vinyl coated chain link fence it can make it look a little softer than a regular metallic chain link fence which can help it appear less industrial and more residential. This makes it perfect for a front yard fence - like the one we installed for a customer in 2023 shown above!
Sometimes customers reach out with an interest in chain link fencing, but a desire for privacy as well. In those cases, we recommend adding privacy slats, like in our project shown above. You’ll get the privacy of a wooden fence or vinyl fence along with the ease of installation and cost effectiveness of a chain link fence. No one will be able to see into your yard with these slats! Privacy slats can also be used to fill gaps in a chain link fence.
If bamboo or reed chain link fence slats that make the fence look like a wood fence aren’t what you’re looking for, a creative alternative are hedge slats! Hedge slats create the look of a manicured lawn - on your fence! These privacy slats are covered in artificial grass which makes your fence into more greenery for your yard. A 4-foot galvanized steel residential chain link fence is perfect for your front yard! It is constructed of metallic wire mesh that comes in rolls. When they are installed the wire mesh is supported with evenly spaced poles and horizontal rails. We typically add in matching chain link gates to these residential chain link fences.
If you’re looking for a fence for your backyard, then you’ll need something a little taller. A 6-foot residential chain link fence is a good option for marking your property line. It is also helpful when you have children or pets that play in the back yard and you don’t want to worry about them wandering off.
Chain link fence panels can be installed quickly and easily. On top of all that, they will last for decades and require almost no maintenance. They are great for adding security to your property, making a dog kennel or enclosing your summer garden or other landscaping. This is a great option to help decorate your chain link fence as well.
Rounded edge chain link fence panels have a softer and more residential look to them. In this style, the edges of the fence panels are rounded instead of straight. We are able to price these at a lower budget point since they are typically easier to install than other fence types - but the rounded edges give them a bit more of an inviting look.
A wood chain link fence has the metallic chain link mesh but is bordered with wooden fence posts and horizontal rails for the top rail and bottom rail. It has a similar look to the box wire fence but still has the characteristic diamond shaped wire mesh of a chain link fence. While we haven't installed this fence type, as it's not part of our offering, we do have general resources on the pros and cons of chain link vs wood fences.
This fence design starts with a traditional chain link fence but has a natural twist to it - plants and flowers are grown at the base of the fence which climb the wire mesh. This gives your chain link fence a beautiful look and makes it into a trellis. This unique look is not found in other types of fences.
For added security, a concertina razor wire chain link fence includes coiled razor wire at the top of the fence. This type is commonly used for high-security facilities or properties where security is a top concern. It's highly effective in preventing unauthorized access.
This type of chain link fence comes with an additional privacy mesh woven through the wires. It adds a layer of privacy while maintaining the strength and durability of traditional chain link. The mesh can come in different colors to complement your yard's design.
For those looking to add a bit of flair to their fence, we often suggest chain link fences with custom decorative inserts. These can include patterns, logos, or artistic designs integrated into the mesh, making your fence both functional and visually interesting.
Adding a lattice top to your chain link fence elevates its aesthetic appeal. This style provides extra height while maintaining an open, airy look. Lattice is a great way to add a bit of privacy while still allowing light and airflow.
This fence style includes tension wire at the bottom of the chain link for added security. It's commonly used for commercial properties, government buildings, or any site that requires extra perimeter control.
Combining the durability of galvanized steel with a vinyl privacy screen, this fence provides a balance of security and privacy. It's great for areas where you need both protection and a barrier from view, such as around pools or backyard gardens.
For a more polished look, the posts of a vinyl-coated chain link fence can be powder-coated in a variety of colors. This offers a stylish yet durable solution, ideal for homeowners looking for both strength and aesthetics in their fencing.
A step up from traditional security fencing, this style features barbed wire along the top of the fence for an added deterrent. Commonly used in commercial or industrial settings, it's a highly effective method of securing properties.
Adding solar-powered lighting to your chain link fence not only improves security but also enhances the beauty of your outdoor space. Solar lights can be mounted on top of posts or along the fence to create a bright, welcoming atmosphere at night.
Chain link fences don’t have to be limited to standard heights. We can custom-build a chain link fence to any desired height, whether you're looking to create a low, decorative barrier or a taller, more secure enclosure for pets or property boundaries.
